EWA Entry Test Coverage

To pass the test you will need to demonstrate breadth and depth of knowledge and understanding covering all the areas listed below. Your training provider will verify your knowledge and understanding before they recommend that you be approved to take the test:

– How relevant legislation applies in the workplace
– The procedures for establishing a safe working environment
– The requirements for identifying and dealing with hazards in the work environment
– How to prepare for the installation of wiring systems
– The practices and procedures for carrying out electrical work
– The characteristics and applications of supply systems and consumer’s equipment
– Earthing and protection
– The relationship between resistance, resistivity, voltage, current, and power
– How different electrical properties can affect electrical circuits, systems, and equipment
– The operating principles of electrical components (the Domestic test covers the principles and applications of heating systems instead)
– The applications of wiring systems
– Electrical systems and circuits
– The electrical design procedure
– The requirements for completing the safe isolation of electrical circuits and installations
– The requirements for the safe testing and commissioning of electrical installations
– Application of BS 7671 and the IET On-Site Guide
