Is the Experienced Worker Assessment suitable for you? You’ll need to review the Skills Scan for your chosen route (Installation & Maintenance, or Domestic) and confirm:

Current scope of work

Are you working day to day on all the activity that’s listed within the relevant Skills Scan? Your workplace evidence has to come from work that you carry out after you enrol on the EWA.

Timescales

Can you generate all the workplace evidence that’s required within the 18-month assessment period? You must complete the EWA qualification no later than 18 months after you enrol.

Practical experience

You’ll need five years’ experience for the Installation/Maintenance route or three years for the Domestic route. This means 3 or 5 years working solely as an electrician and not in training.

Level 2 qualification

You’ll need a recognised Level 2 electrical theory qualification to ensure you have the appropriate understanding of electrical theory and the required scientific principles.

If you don’t have a recognised Level 2 electrical theory qualification, but have typically more than 10 years of experience, you may be eligible for the EWA Entry Test.

Workplace evidence can only come from work you carry out after you enrol, so you need to be working day to day across the full breadth of the Skills Scan. If you are not, it is unlikely you will be able to complete the EWA — consider an alternative training route.

 

You must complete the EWA no later than 18 months after you enrol. Do not enrol until you are confident you can provide all the evidence within that timescale, or consider an alternative training route.

 

The EWA requires 5 years’ experience for the Installation/Maintenance route or 3 years’ for the Domestic route, working solely as an electrician and not in training or education. If you are not there yet, take a look at alternative training routes
